Welcome to A1
Welcome to Grade 5 A1!
Dear Grade 5 A1 Students and Parents,
Welcome to a new school year! My name is Ms. Jeannie, and I am excited to begin this journey with you. I look forward to helping each student grow, learn, and become a confident, responsible learner.
Grade 5 is an important year. As students become older, they are expected to take greater responsibility for their learning, behavior, and progress. Together, we will create a classroom where everyone feels safe, respected, supported, and motivated to do their best.
Our Grade 5 A1 Class Expectations
1. Daily Communication Book
Students are expected to check and complete their Communication Book every day.
- Write down homework and important announcements clearly.
- Check the Communication Book before leaving school.
- Parents are encouraged to check it regularly.
- Any required parent signatures should be completed promptly.
Good communication helps everyone stay organized and informed.
2. Homework Is an Obligation, not an option!
Homework is an important part of learning and practice.
- Complete all homework on time.
- Bring completed assignments to class.
- Take responsibility for missing or incomplete work.
- Ask for help when you do not understand an assignment.
Homework is not optional—it is part of your responsibility as a student.
3. Maintain Your Goals & Grades
Every student should have goals for the school year.
We will work on:
- Improving academic skills
- Maintaining good grades
- Identifying areas that need improvement
- Taking pride in personal progress
- Setting realistic goals and working toward them
Your goal is not to be better than someone else. Your goal is to become better than you were yesterday.
4. Class Participation
Learning happens when you participate!
Students are expected to:
- Listen carefully.
- Raise their hand and contribute ideas.
- Answer questions and ask questions.
- Participate in discussions, activities, and group work.
- Try even when something is difficult.
You do not have to be perfect to participate. Mistakes are part of learning!
5. Respect Your Peers
Our classroom belongs to everyone.
Students must:
- Speak kindly to one another.
- Listen when others are speaking.
- Respect different opinions, abilities, and backgrounds.
- Keep their hands, feet, and belongings to themselves.
- Encourage classmates rather than embarrass or discourage them.
Treat others the way you want to be treated.
6. Maintain a Safe Learning Environment
Everyone deserves to feel safe at school.
We will maintain a classroom that is:
- Safe
- Respectful
- Positive
- Inclusive
- Focused on learning
Bullying, teasing, fighting, threatening behavior, inappropriate language, or actions that make others feel unsafe will not be accepted.
When we feel safe and respected, we can learn our best.
MY Grade 5 A1 Goal
This year, I want every student to develop not only academically, but also as a responsible, respectful, independent, and confident learner.
Remember:
Come prepared.
Participate.
Do your homework.
Set goals.
Work hard.
Respect others.
Make good choices.
Never be afraid to ask for help.
Let's make Grade 5 A1 a great year!
